20. Accessing the quality of an E - learning course
- At the beginning of the course, learners are provided with general information that will assist them in completing the course and in understanding its objectives and procedures?
- If the course is intended for an international audience, the level of reading proficiency is necessary to complete the course successfully.
- A brief description of the course includes a goal and learning objectives and/or outcomes.
- A program map will indicates how this course is related to other courses in the program and the credit value of each course.
- Prerequisites are identified.
- A list of required and recommended resources includes all textbooks, course ware, and online resources necessary to complete the course. If learners must access online databases, instructions are provided for locating and accessing these resources, including password information.
- Special requirements are identified, such as recommended modem speed or Internet bandwidth, hardware, and plug-ins. Online sources for these items are provided.
- The estimated time required to complete the module and/or course is stated.
- Guidelines for participating in online discussions are provided, as well as suggestions for handling incoming e-mail, e-mail attachments, viruses, and e-mail filters.
- Learners are informed about group-work activities, the guidelines for forming groups, grading criteria for group participation and assignments, and their responsibilities as group members.
- The introduction to the course takes into account the learners’ backgrounds, ability levels, and expectations, including their personal learning goals and objectives
- The availability of technical support is stated, and links to online technical information are provided
- The availability of the instructor is specified, as is the turnaround time for responses to learners’ questions.
- Learners are directed to a source for answers to “frequently asked questions” pertaining to online learning. This source may provide information covering many of the items listed above, as well as items related to plagiarism, virus protection, and firewalls.
- Learners are informed about their right to privacy and the conditions under which their names or online submissions may be shared with others.
- Learners are directed to a Web site that helps them determine whether online education is appropriate for them.
- The developers and reviewers of the course are listed. Brief biographies may be provided to assure students of the developers’ knowledge and expertise.
19. E-Learning Project Management
Scheduling
- Scheduling is the last step in project planning but it is the second step in production planning.
- It is the time table of production. It gives the starting date and the completion date and time for each operation.
- The main objective of scheduling is to see that all operations are completed within the allocated time period.
- Generally a schedule should be produced at the start of the each month or week. It is an important tool for time management.If it is done correctly it will maximize the time and the stress you may face during the process of the tasks.
- The most common way of scheduling is preparing gantt charts for work and time allocation.

17. Ethics and Standards Associated with e-Learning - Note Book 7
- In the lecture of ethics and standards associated with e-learning i got the learning experiences on copyrights and the copyright laws regarding e learning and how to function the copyrights.
- And the e learning standards applicable in developing e learning contents also was taught. Also we learned about the SCORM standard which is used to develop e learning software products.
Goals of the standard SCORM
- Accessibility - Ability to access at anywhere anytime.
- Adaptability - Ability to tailor instructions to individuals and organizations.
- Affordability - Ability to increase efficiency and productivity by by reducing time and costs.
- Durability - Content will not easily become obsolete.
- Interoperability - Different tools and platforms communicate and work efficiently together.
- Re usability - Learning content can easily modify.
14. Planning and Analysis for e-Learning
Throughout
this lecture series for lesson 3 i identified different types of
analysis have to do namely need analysis, learner analysis, Content
analysis, Context analysis and Task analysis.
Need Analysis
Need
analysis is the process of identifying and evaluating needs in a
community or other defined set of people.It is a process of describing
problems of target population and solution to that problem.
Steps
1.Identify the audience and the purpose of the analysis.
2.Describe the target population and service environment.
3.Identify the needs where descriptions of the problems and possible solutions are generated.
4.Needs assessment.
5.Communicate results to the audience.
Learner Analysis
Learner
analysis is a critical aspect off instructional design and
characterized as an iterative process that informs vital instructional
design decisions from front end analysis to evaluation.The purpose of
this study was to investigate the variability in existing frameworks of
cultural analysis within the instructional design practice
Content analysis
Content
analysis refers to a general set of techniques useful for analyzing and
understanding collection of text. There is considerable work done in
this area, Which predates internet search by decades. This enables a
more objective evaluation than comparing content based on the
impressions of a listener.
Task analysis
Task
analysis is the process of learning about ordinary users by observing
them in action to understand in detail how they perform their tasks and
achieve their intended goals. Task analysis helps to understand and
identify the tasks that your website and applications must support and
can also help you re-fine or re-define by determining the appropriate
content scope.
Context analysis
Context
analysis is the method to analyze the environment in which a business
operates.Environmental scanning mainly focuses on the macro environment
of the business.But context analysis consider the entire environment of a
business its internal and external factors.

Instructions
are the activities of educating or instructing or teaching.To give
instructions we can use media, methods and materials.
Media is a way that carry messages. Message is a short communication sent from one person to another.
Instructional design
Instructional
design is the systematic process by which instructional materials are
designed , developed and delivered for learning and training purpose.
The
terms instructional design, instructional technology, educational
technology, curriculum design, and instructional systems design (ISD),
are often used interchangeably.
Wikipedia
says "Instructional design, also known as instructional systems design,
is the analysis of learning needs and systematic development of
instruction. Instructional designers often use Instructional technology
as a method for developing instruction. Instructional design models
typically specify a method, that if followed will facilitate the
transfer of knowledge, skills and attitude to the recipient or acquirer

06.Importance of the quality of E-learning
School
attendance should open of learning and discovery. Millions of children
go through school and come out without basic literacy and numerical
skills. Education is ultimately judged by what people learn. Many
students around the world are banking their futures on poorly trained,
weakly motivated teachers without enough books and other basics to
facilitate their learning. While we strive to boost school attendance,
we must ensure that our schools are engines of opportunity and not just
idle warehouses.
04. Paradigm Shift of Learning to e-Learning-Note book 3
Learner centered education
In
our last lecture we learn about the learner centered education over
teacher centered education and in learner centered education the
education the methods are mainly focused on learner. That means students
learn what they prefer. There is no standard learning materials or a
syllabus or any criteria but they ask from the students about what are
their interested areas and what they want to learn. So in Learner
centered education both start point and the end point is the learner. He
controls the entire learning process and they are the main focus of the
organization.
The
above graph shows how learner centered education methods interact with
learners.Previously i did not have any idea about student centered
learning but last lecture was all about the difference between student
centered learning and teacher centered learning.
Benefits of student centered learning over teacher centered learning
- Teacher knows what exactly the student wants and can focus on them directly.
- Can evaluate information.
- Students can have self awareness of their learning .
- Students can be responsible of their own learning so they are going to focus more.
E-Learning
The above video will give a brief description about e learning.
Simply
e learning is electronic learning. That is the use of technology to
deliver an output to the users for learning purposes.So people who are
in capable of having any electronic device such as a desktop computer, a
laptop, tablets,a mobile or whatever, can reach to e learning.
benefits of e learning
- Cost effective because the learner do not want to go anywhere and lesser cost on paperwork.
- E learning is every where at anytime so anybody who is interested can reach at anytime.
- Large number of resources are available.
- Easy to use for the learner.
- It is easy to keep a device to read all the materials rather than keeping number of books.
E learning has become the latest trend in modern education system. The reasons behind the e learning concept are,
- Real time access to the sources so that teacher and the students can interact via chats and video conference etc.
- Can store large number of data (documents) for both the students and the teacher so students can reach to those sources easily at any time just by surfing through internet.

Leaning
is reinforcing the existing knowledge. It is like collecting
information to your brain. Each and every day we learn something. So
that learning become more effective it it changes our attitude or
behavior.So when our brain gets some learning it gives a sense to our
brain and it filters what we learned. So that the schema of the brain
will change.
I learned some new concepts throughout the lecture. They are the concepts of "Behaviorism, Cognitivism and Constructivism" . In general all those concepts describe about the human brain changes relative to learning.
The lecturer gave us very scientific examples which proves the above concepts.So now we can identify what types of learning methods are we following and what can change our learning pattern.
We had a little confusion about real world example on those 3 major types of learning techniques and the lecturer gave us clear real world examples for each method.

01. Introduction to E learning - Note book 1
E
learning has become an emerging study method world wide. So in this
course i am hoping to study more about e learning methods and separate
modules attached to e learning, And also the concept of virtual canteen
is also sounds interesting and i am hoping to see similar concepts
throughout the course. Also i want to learn more about the concept
"virtualization" as it is used widely in day to day activities such as
virtual meetings virtual discussions etc. Also the instructional design
plays a big role in e-learning and i am hoping to learn about how do
instructional design collaborate with e-learning.
Recently,
i knew e- learning as an option provided for learners worldwide, to
learn about certain things via internet using digital devices but
e-learning has become more useful to everyone around 4 corners of the
world to make their work easy and save so many costs.
